Stopped Receiving Email Notifications

I upgraded my forum to 2.0.14 and it broke the forums because I was only using PHP 5.3. I re-installed version 2.0.13 and I contacted the server tech support and had my PHP upgraded to version 5.4. Email notifications stopped. I then upgraded my forum to 2.0.14 with success. Still no email notifications. Talking to my server's tech support is like talking to a brick wall, and they have been no help in solving this problem. I have since re-installed the forums with the full 2.0.14 install and upgraded to PHP 5.5. Still no email notifications.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this problem?

Is the forum sending any emails?

If you have email notifications set to "on" for whenever you get new posts to threads that you are subscribed to. Also, as admin, I receive notifications when a new member signs up. All these have stopped for me.
