Clarification of 'Registration disabled'

My Admin receives hundreds of registration requests per week, virtually all of which are bogus, despite our installed Stop_Spammer mod.  She only honors the emailed requests as specified on our logon page.  At our last upgrade (to 2.0.15) she asked if I could "just turn off" the logon page's Register button.  I suspect the Admin>Members>Registration>Settings>Disable registration option would meet her requirements, but would it also prevent manual registration via Admin>Members>Registration>Register new member?

Thanks.

It would not,

as for the bots, I honestly think a good question at registration will keep them away, or use the reCaptcha mod

What with both Stop_Spam and httpBL installed and running, the hit rate went way down but not to zero.  We'll try moving that setting to Registration disabled for a while.

Thanks for the help.

Questions.

After adding questions, I have had a total of 3 questionable registrations in the past 2 years - and those were caught by the Stop Forum Spam check
