Hi there

I'm having an issue allowing guests to browse the forum. I've gone into Admin > Permissions > Board Permissions and set guests to read-only. However, when a guest tries to browse the forum, this error appears:

Only registered members are allowed to access this section.
Please login below or register an account with Virus Removal Advice | PC Support | Coding Alterations.

How can this be resolved?

Thanks.

Hello

goto admin>configuration>features and options and then tick "Allow guests to browse the forum" then click save.

Elfred

Wow, thanks so much!!

One more thing, how do you get users to receive a verification email when they sign up?

kat

Admin>Registration>Settings>Method of registration employed for new members>EMail activation.

If you mean what I think you mean... :)

Elfred

There doesn't seem to be a 'registration' option in admin.

Elfred

Ah found it, had to hover over members :)

Last thing, when users type something and want to link it, instead of this coming up:

hxxp:text%20here [nonactive]

Is it possible for something to open where they insert a link onto the text as the above may confuse them

kat

If you turn the WYSIWYG editor on (It's as buggy as ******, though), they can click on the icon and input that stuff.

If you mean like THIS, no. It has to be typed, I'm afraid.

THIS,

I seem to remember there being a mod, though, for that.

Again, if I'm wrong, my stalker will correct me, I feel sure.

Elfred

Is it possible to enlarge the size of how big the profile picture is, on everyones profile? E.g hxxp:prntscr.com/5e6gx0 [nonactive]

Elfred

Sorry for all the questions, but one more thing.. how do I enable WYSIWYG for everyone?

Night09

It should be on by default unless you turned it off.

Administration Center »Posts and Topics »Post Settings

You tick to disable it not enable it.

that just turns it on, I believe (e.g. makes it available or not) -- it does not set all users to be using the wysiwyg... (however, actually doing so would be a mistake, IMO)

Hello

goto admin>configuration>features and options and then tick "Allow guests to browse the forum" then click save.
I know this topic is a bit old; but it came up for me when I did a search here on how to set permissions for Guests to read only, on only one topic. I did the steps outlined in the second post of this topic but it did not work. After further figuring, I found that it was because when I created the topic I wanted said permissions for, for some reason I over-looked the permissions that can be checked off while creating the topic. After I checked that permission, it works like a dream. I thought it might help other newbies if I posted this. :)

Kindred

There is no such permission "per topic" in a standard SMF installation.
Permissions are set per BOARD.
