Allow members to hide own email address/refuse email from other users?

Where did that setting go? I tried looking around here too, found no mention... As it is right now on my forum all email addresses are available to everyone?

Are you sure about that? Because I could have sworn they were all hidden except to moderators... (and presumably you're a moderator)

I can't see your email address for example. I doubt you can see mine.

Ah that makes sense; I got confused because in older versions email used to be sent through the forum I think? But now it's an email link . Maybe I remember it wrong, not a hundred percent sure.

Still, how to disable receiving emails from other users? Can't find it, even here...

Pretty sure the option to send each other mail outside of PMs was removed entirely. My memory is hazy, it was years ago when I worked on this... I vaguely remember making the argument that if you have PMs there's no need to expose emails to each other outside of a moderation context so I'm pretty sure I just gutted all of that stuff.

But that was 2013, so my memory is not entirely sure here.

Then maybe, again, it is because I'm the admin and have/had this available to me.

However, I'm looking into it because a member complained actually, so I'll do some further digging and will report.

No, normal user, but am not at home and it's cumbersome to investigate. I'll use my user text account when back home.

Ok, just to report, user later clarified that he was only seeing the email icon under his own profile () and when I asked for more details he disappeared... so yeah, not a very credible issue.

Well, it's part of the same underlying logic: email is visible to yourself and moderators.

I'm inclined to think it should just be hidden from the display area in general at this stage.

Perhaps, indeed, though it was quite a leap to assume it was visible to everyone...
