Why aren't my users showing up on Mambo when they login through SMF?

I'm having a new problem with the SMF bridge I installed into Joomla...first here's my version info:

Joomla: 1.011
SMF: 1.1RC3

I had to install an EXISTING SMF Board into Joomla...the board has around 8,000 members.  I tried logging in with a test user and it created the user in Mambo automatically, however the user name does not display in the user manage list in the Joomla backend...also, the user has not been assigned to the "register" group like it should have been.  Therefore, when I try to run a search on it, it simply doesn't pop up under the Joomla user manger.  But, again, the odd thing is that the user exists because it displays the user in the logged in list under the administration panel and that's the only way I can access them.

Why aren't my users showing up in the list???
