hello... is it possible to import one or more topics from a forum that runs on SMF 2.1.4 like mine? a friend has to close his forum and wants to transfer some topics so as not to lose them

The best way to go about this imo is to transfer the whole database, and then you can remove what you don't want to keep, and keep what you want to keep.

I may be wrong (I often am), but sounds like OP wants to transfer selected topics from one forum into another forum, i.e., add topics from forum 1 into existing content in forum 2.
When in Emor, do as the Snamors.

That's is what it sounds like...

And no, there is no good way to do that

Well, there was this for 2.0.  Don't think it's been updated for 2.1.  Would be a hairball to remove all the unwanted content from merged forums.

If I had to do it, I'd probably start with the mergesmf script:
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=575102.0

Find a way to filter a subset of boards/topics/members.

Admittedly not for the faint of heart.  Assumes db & admin skills.

Note that was updated tor 2.1.  Gotta read the edit history at the very bottom.

2.1.4 now

we honestly have nothing built that will do "just a few topics"

it's generally all or nothing...   unless you feel like grabbing the export, doing the import and then REMOVING all of the ones you don't want.

thanks, so if I import the backup of forum 2 that has few topics and few accounts in forum 1 that has over 4,000 accounts and over 1 GB of memory I do not risk losing forum 1 and its database? all by selecting only what can I import? the problem arises that all the accounts of Forum 2 also have the same account in forum 1

No, there would be programming involved.
