Hi

On my journey from 1.1.21 to 2.1.4 I am currently up to 2.0.19 still with all the forum using latin1. Having read that upgrading to 2.1.4 I need to convert to utf8. Handily there is a option to do this in the database Maint section which I have run on a test version often forum, all ran ok. I then ran the upgrade to 2.1.4 and again all appears running ok.

So why the query? If I go into phpmyadmin I noticed there are still refs to latin1 on some tables. My question is, is this a problem which is waiting to bite me at some point or is all good with the world?

Are those tables related to mods?

2.0 has a convert-to-utf8 utility built in.

I suggest using that, so internal settings are set properly.  If you do it outside of SMF, you'll need to do those manually.

And yes, as noted above, you may need to do mod tables manually as well.

Hi

Sorry I should have been clearer, yes I used the SMF convert to utf8 option in the database maintenance section.
