Will the 2.0 branch continue to receive updates for PHP and MySQL? The Core theme bundled with 2.0.19 is perfect for a retro community I'm building. But, the php requirements are a worry. Unless, there is a theme like Core for 2.1?

Nope.

Indeed. We do not recommend using SMF 2.0. The highest version of PHP it works with is PHP 8.0, which has already reached end-of-life stage.

Unless, there is a theme like Core for 2.1?

You can peruse a number of themes in the Customize section of this site. If nothing quite fits your desire, you can also ask in the Help Wanted (not for support) board; there are a number of folks around here who make custom themes.
