Redirection topics

Previous topic - Next topic

I'm working on this mod and I've come across a stumbling block of sorts.

My current idea of implementing it is to have the first message's body be the URL to redirect to.  This makes this a lot easier as it won't require changing much of existing code.

However the problem I'm running into is how to edit it.  Since you normally have to open a topic to edit a particular message we run into a little bit of a snag.

What I'm thinking is to create an area inside the admin control panel that will list the topics and where they redirect to and provide a link to the modify page.

Any comments?

I think a better idea would be to have a field in the topics table which lists which topic to redirect to. if that field is set to 0, then it's just a normal topic and is displayed.
"Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise."

There will be a flag that says if its a redirection topic or not.
This won't be limited to redirecting to other topics but will be able to redirect anywhere and everywhere much like redirection boards.

The problem with having topics without messages is that the system doesn't expect that so a lot of areas would look like crap without that data.
