Package Manager Help ?

Pardon the newbie question, but is there a Package Manager help file or tutorial doc availible anywhere ?   We can't get it to work no how

Which error message do you get?

We don't get any error message as such, just a message to d/l the zip mod
via url, but then we already have that.  And that's as far as package mgr takes us.

Can't exactly check much now as we tried to execute the add_settings.php
(barring instructions it seemed like a reasonable thing to do) and it crashed
the entire SMF package. 

We're reloading it ...

Is there documention anywhere on how to use PM ?
