Getting Started Advice

I have installed smf only once, and haven't used it much. I need a stable forum and I think SMF is the right choice.

Can someone please save me time and energy so I do it right the first time. I'm a little confused 


My goal is to integrate smf into joomla 1.0.7

what version of smf do I need?
What joomla bridge will I need?
will any theme work, or do I need a specific version?

Where do I get them and are there any issues or any advice on getting started?

SMF 1.1RC2, bridge 1.1.2 (aka 3.20)
you will need modified themes for SMF

I read a little of everything, I guess thats why I was confused. 

So what modified themes will I need? Do they have a version number or are they for Joomla specific? Where might I find them.

I mis-typed a little... you will not REQUIRE modified SMF themes... but there are several that are specifically designed to work while wrapped in Joomla...  (see sticky post at the top of this board)
