I am having trouble understanding search & mambot and how it works.  Is there a cron run or indexing thing to do?  I installed the smf.search.alpha.0.5.zip and it doesn't seem to work.  But then i put a newsfeed on the site and it didn't show up in the search either.

I finally got everything working (except getting logout to go back to Joomla home-page, but i can live with that.) and would really really like the search to work. Any suggestion, or explanations on how Joomla does search mambots, are they just installed/published and left alone, or do you have to do something?

Did you change that parameter in the mod_smf_login module?

There might be a newsfeed searchbot made somewhere as well.  Try mamboforge.net.

Mambots are just functions that are called upon certain events.  Content bots are called when a content item is loaded.  Search bots are called when you click the "Search" button.  Editor bots are called when you edit your content.

hmm. well i think i did change the parameters.  When my first (failed) attempt at the bridge, i had the mod set to "Back to the SMF Main Page" i think.. Now no matter what i have it at whenever you sign in no matter where it goes to the Main page.

As for search it sounds like when successfully installed search should be able to show results for forum posts as well (which it doesn't) and i looks like the mambot was very successfully installed. but maybe wasn't.

Did you publish the Mambot? That's a separate step.
