hey guys

i am using SMF1.1.4

i've just installed some new smileys onto the forum, and now some people are complaining that they could not see their avatars or some of the pictures that have been uploaded by members.

i can see my own administrator avatar, but when i tried to view some of the uploaded attachments in the forum, i was getting a border of uploaded image, but with the red cross on the top left hand corner. the border size is not the normal small pictureless border you would get if the image is not available, but the large original image size borders.

did i manage to muck something up here when i uploaded the emoticons/smileys? i swear i havnt touched any parts re avatars and attachments.

my site is

its an adult site, so just watch out when you enter.

cheers

Have you had anyone register from an IP starting with 94.142?

shadow_kil

yeah, just the one, three days ago

94.142.129.147

should i be worried?

Antechinus

Depends. You worry about being hacked or not?

Serious answer, if he uploaded anything (avatar or whatever) then you have some cleaning up to do.

Antechinus

Oh and as soon as we release the 1.1.9 patch, use it.

shadow_kil

will the 1.1.9 patch fix the existing problems as well?

Antechinus

No. It will only stop another occurrence. Any cleaning up of existing problems will involve shovels and gumboots. Sorry about that.

shadow_kil

bloody hell...
so is there a cleaners manual to fix this piece of ****** that was dropped on us?

Antechinus

We're getting one together but we want to make sure it's comprehensive. The basics of it are that all or most php files on your server are likely to have injected spam links near the top of them. I'd start checking those as you have time for it. We're also working on the possibility of a cleanup script but that's nowhere near ready. Testing the patch for this is the highest priority at the moment.

shadow_kil

i've just finished reading up on some of the posts that are available for reading on the problem.
i worked through some of the basic files in the root directory and have deleted those injected codes, and now the whole site is working perfectly, well, to the best of my knowledge anyways. there was only the 3 or 4 php files in the root directory that needed cleaning in my case.
we had a few members who would' be able to see their avatars and a different group of people who couldnt see some pictures.
my admin account could see some avatars, and attached images from old posts, but not the newer posts.
hope this helps.
cheers

Antechinus

Good. Glad to hear you're working again. There will be a bit more tidying up to do in odd places and as soon as we have a list we'll let people know.
