Autolink a Community Builder field to a forum

If someone can clarify this it would be appreciated -
If I add a field in Custom Builder for a school dropdown list which a user has to select when registering, Can I automatically have a way to then link this selection to the same school's forum in SMF? I can have a link called "Your schools" for eg which when they clicked would display the forum(s) relevent to their school(s).Was thinking of an alumni type feature which utlises SMF and Community Builder.

However, if you added the field to the SMF profile, you could export the SMF input to CB.  But not from CB to SMF.
