Is it possible to disable users from choosing how to display posts, by default on my forum it sets it to new posts at the top of the lists. And in users profiles it allows them to choose this feature or not.

I want to disable that and set it to be global that all posts start with the first post and then the next and then the nexta nd so forth (oldest to newest)

Much thanks and I have searched all over this site and the admin console for this feature.

:)
my forum is at hxxp:www.fiendclub.org [nonactive]

It affects only the individual user if set in profile.
Why does this bother you? I mean you can of course set globally to show the first message at the top. But when a user chooses to see the newest message at the top, he will only himself see that way. So whats wrong with it?

There is only one way to disallow them to change it, its to remove profile changing permission from them.
If you dont like this, you can remove the layout preferences link from the profile page.

the reason is I want my forum to be uniform in the way posts are read.

and can you please be more specific on how I can actually make it default to  oldest to newest.

IF I disabel it Im afraid it will stay stuck at the default which is newest to oldest.

Admin -> Themes and Layout -> Reset Options -> Reset default (guest) options for this theme ->
Here, unckeck this option: Show most recent posts at the top.
