Admin adding members -- possible?

SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
I'd like to be able to add a whole bunch of members, batch-style, and have them receive a notice that an account has been created for them.

I'd like to do this because I know a bunch of people who want to join the new board I've created, but I want to save them the trouble of doing the registration routine.

Of course I don't want to do their whole registration routine for each of them, either.

I'd like to just enter in their user name, e-mail address and real name, and have them receive a note with their user name and an auto-generated password, maybe with a note that I could write on how to change the password.

Possible? Mod required? Mod exists?

Many thanks,

~Louie.

I don`t think a mod exsists for this but it would be an awesome idea. Sorry I couldn`t help though.

sounds like alot of work for something that would take each of them about 3 minutes to do.
If it aint broke, break it.

I agree. Noone may spend hours to give some users 3 minutes. Also, if you disable email activation, the reg process becomes about 24 seconds for an average guest.

Actually folks, it is a VERY common feature -- available to most listserv software such as MailMan, YahooGroups, etc.  And VBulletin at least gives one the ability to very quickly add users through the admin interface.

One should not have to turn off registration for unknown people for the luxury of rapidly registering known users.

If this feature does not already exist, I think it is high time to move this topic to the suggestions forum...

Best to all,

~Louie.

You can add new users from admin panel > registration if you need that badly.

Ah, thank you -- that's back to my orginal question -- I hadn't noticed where I could do that -- I'll check it out again.

(I'd still love to be able to batch-add, but being able to administratively add would suffice for now.)

Best,

~Louie.

Strange. I can see it there. Can you say which tabs appear when you enter admin panel and click Registration at the left bottom?

You are completely right my friend.

I guess my main suggestion at this point would be to rename the link "member registration" and to move it up to directly under "members".

I realize I must have been addled to miss it at all, but I think it would be easier to find that way.

I'll still wish for a batch add feature, but this will be great for the time being!!

Thanks for your persistence in working to enlighten me!  :D

Best regards,

~Louie.
