Bringing board info from old forum to new one?

SMF Version: SMF 1.1.1
I run an old 1.0.9 board that's still on my server and has a fair amount of users on it. I installed 1.1.1 in a new directory with new mysql info.

I want to make a transition from that board over to the new one, but hope there is a way that I can get the users uploaded to the new forums as well as the content of the old board.

Is this possible?  I just want the old user and post database on the new forums.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To be safe, do a database backup before you begin.

You can do an upgrade on the database. If you download the 1.1 upgrade, you will want to upload the .sql files and upgrade.php file. Edit the SQL settings to point to the old data (or you can make a copy of the existing database for upgrading). Once that is done, run the upgrade.php script.
