Locking forum at nigh ?

Any one as ever locked or closed thier forum at night ?

I have  client that want me to create a forum but close it at night so that nobody put sexual things on it.

Any comment or suggestions?

Well night time for one person is the afternoon for someone else.  You'll be shutting yourself off from a lot of potential members and visitors.

It would probably be better just to have tighter rules for registering (admin activation, no guest posting etc).

Closing a forum at night will stop international users posting and may affect google (if you use maintenance mode) which will in turn affect search rankings

The majority of my forum users are in the USA, but the majority also come on at 1, 2, 3 AM. Not to mention my international members.

True, and you could always find some trusted moderators to keep an eye out while you're not there
