Total noob, but here goes.

Have the SMF installed to /forums. My home page is HTML with links to the forums, FAQs, etc. Once the user gets to the forums, there is no way to navigate away from the forums to go to the other links. Is there a way to frame the forums with an HTML frame to the left or top without having a huge problem?

You probably could but then they couldn't bookmark it or anything. If you click the link in my signature (my live forum where I play and test) and something like that is what you are interested in then I might be able to get you squared away. It was pretty easy - just use either the ad management mod or the global headers and footers mod and you can insert the code without having to make any major changes to the existing SMF code.
