To lay to any doubts to rest, this was not Kevin's fault. It was mine. I was the one who gave the portal to quadro under the assumption he was a developer to help Kevin. After reading this, you all may wish to yell and chastize me and that I understand. Just know, I am SORRY.
In this play of events, I will refer to Kevin (one true developer of MyiBPortal) as Kevin G. and the person that stole this work as Quadro. since both of their names are Kevin.

Now, the reason Quadro has this portal is because I (YES ME) am the f'up who trusted this guy with his words of "I want to help develop this portal he is working on".
Silly naive me, sent him the portal to review and test until Kevin G. returned from vacation.
So, quadro (Kevin Brooker) starts showing me his "new project" he is working on. It looks nice but familiar to Kevin G.
So, in the interim, quadro assisted me in setting up Grudge's shout box on my site, he upgraded us to Beta 6 (As ok'd by Jeff L.), and modified some lines on our "tables" to make them thicker. He did all of this because as I said, I know nutin about code. I thanked him for his work and it was appreciated! Heck, what a nice guy for doing all of this.
Well, Kevin G. gets back from vacation (well needed and deserved), and IM's me asking about quadro's portal......
To make a long story short, Kevin G. showed me how he knew quadro had stolen his portal.
Now, I do not act like I know code or much about this web crap at all, I do know I was sent proof and I do know that this is NOT the first time quadro has been accused of stealing someone else's work.
I have been contacted by people in the past that also know quadro very closely also had proof and now have warned me about him and to just stay away from him as he will do the same.

I keep logs, threats, and I confirm stuff before making accusations. I was going to keep my mouth shut and not participate in this discussion as I have chosen not to involve myself with this person any more. I have looked up much of his threat assessment he has accused me of by Googling it and mostly these were Bots and Apache logs of some sort, not hacks.

Now, quadro will most likely reply to this or email this all to everyone including our hosts. At this point, I do not care.
I did have links on my site for apz and duns but am slowly going through and removing them so he cannot state I am still doing this. I have also visited his site to see what others are talking about and to see what his site looks like now as he has mine also. I do try to keep from going to www.quadroplex.com or net now as I know he will continue to accuse me of hacking attempts even though this is a open site and available for anyone.
I do not know how to hack sites, nor know what all of his ramblings are half the time. This is the only thing he has against me that can hinder my hosting so, quadro, by all means, please continue this threat as I am cleaning up those areas.

I can only hope the people here and at SMF (where he has also threatened) until they sent him their lawyer info to contact and I have been given the ok to contact their lawyers also if needed.
FYI, he also made a similar attempt to steal LSP portal system which I am sure their staff will confirm if any of you care to ask them. He hides the info well on how he steals the software from what developers have told me.

He stole from my true friend(s), he has harassed me, he as lied to me, he has abused my trust, and has lied to my friends, and much more.

I am truly SORRY for causing all of this by introducing this guy into a OUTSTANDING project and group such as MyiBPortal and have no one to blame but myself for this. I most likely will not reply to any further postings about this or respond to his threats or accusations. PLEASE know, there are MANY people that can attest to his stealing etc. I think you know, that the people here at this good site, SMF, LSP, as well as my host are pretty reliable and whatever usually spews from quadro's mouth is most likely either a lie or a taken out of context statement to the actual truth.

Please be careful with this guy, he is not a nice guy.

You made a mistake, which every single person here is guilty of on, I'm sure, more than one occasion. And you've realized the mistake and what not to do in the future. I don't think anyone here believes you had ill intentions when you gave it over to him, nor thought that he might steal the code, because, for the most part, everyone who even just frequents this project (SMF), is a decent person trying to utilize good software and perhaps help make it better. It's ok. :)

**Flame on**
And, I believe (or hope), that everyone around here already knows Quadro is an idiot. Anyone who looks at his web site and/or his 'clients' can tell that he just couldn't possibly have the skill to create anything even mildly useful, especially creating and integrating an advanced portal system into a very advanced piece of forum software like this. Either that, or he's VERY good at making others believe that he's a total dunce while, secretly, he's a bona-fide programmer with some intelligence....I'm thinking no.
**Flame off**

Anyhow, like I said, you made a mistake, but its in the past. Intentions were good, and it just blew up. Sad, but it happens. The important thing is is that it's pretty clear as to who's doing the good work, and who's not. Quadro is banned from both this forum and from Lunabyte (as far as I know), and with any luck, will slowly lose steam soon. (After all, it uses a lot of energy to download software, change so text in the files, and then re-upload it. :P)

IMO CP... this is a terrible thing that has happened...  but if it is anyone's fault, it is Quadro's, not yours.....
It's a shame that you were tricked, but that is about it....
If I bought a gun... and I used it to go on a school killing rampage... would that then be the gun store owner's fault??

Well, it is a sad thing...

Kevin>
Well, that happened here in SMF, is the risk of putting open source code to the public but, the truth is, quadro project will die... Same as the one that stole out code, without SMF official approval, and banned from here, I assure you, is only time before he drops the stolen project. don't give him a lot of your time/toughts. Is not worth it

CP>
Well... It seems you didn't act of bad will, so, the best you can do for now, after what you already did apologizing to Kevin G, is just take it as a note for future reference... Not worth to blame yourself everyday now that this happened..., well, i i said, he will eventualy drop the project.. i don't see on it any future.

And, enjoy life, enjoy the project, and do what fills you, guys ;)

Hey, Thunderace!  I saw you reply on the yauws site to someone about having a front page wrapper setup... Can you send me an example of what you mean?  Munchaen (the guy you were responding to) and I have been trying to work through this problem as we each have it.  (We work together)  Both of us are pretty much coding newbs...

In admin create a wrapper called "frontpage"

It should end up looking something like this ...

<!-- #PORTAL_SMFTEMPLATE_main_top()# -->

<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4" border="0" align="left">
<tbody>
<tr class="windowbg2">
<td width="15%" valign="top" align="left" class="ltnotop smalltext last">
                      <table width="100%" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="4" border="0" align="center" class="bordercolor">
<tbody>
<!-- #PORTAL_BLOCK_ID(3,0,0)# -->
<!-- #PORTAL_MESSAGE_ID(2,0,0)# -->
</tbody></table>
</td>
  <td width="70%" valign="top" align="left" class="ltnotop smalltext last">
<!-- #PORTAL_CONTENT_ID(1,0,0)# -->
<p /><p>
<!-- #PORTAL_BLOCK_ID(4,0,0)# -->
</p><p>
<!-- #PORTAL_BLOCK_ID(10,0,0)# -->
</p><p>
  <br /></p></td>
  <td width="15%" valign="top" align="left" class="rtnotop smalltext last">
                        <table width="100%" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="4" border="0" align="center" class="bordercolor">
<tbody><tr>
<td class="titlebg">Forum</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="windowbg">
<!-- #PORTAL_BLOCK_ID(2,0,0)# -->
<!-- #PORTAL_BLOCK_ID(7,0,0)# -->
<!-- #PORTAL_BLOCK_ID(9,0,0)# -->
<br /></td>
</tr></tbody></table>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>

<!-- #PORTAL_SMFTEMPLATE_main_bottom()# -->

Ensure that it is activated

Create an assigment called "frontpage"

Assignment name = "frontpage"
Site area = "frontpage"
Wrappers = "frontpage"

Create your own blocks, content and message blocks and you're away

Thank you Thunderace, gonna try this out today.  With IPB and Yauws it was a bit easier to get the portal running...

This is your custom 404 "Not found" Error page. This page is displayed whenever a file that a web browser requests is not found on your website.

If you would like to change this page, edit the file "404.html" in your "www" dir.

Important!!!!

If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, please read this important article about "404" pages. It will save you a lot of frustration!

Force IE5 to display your 404 and not its own

A quick tutorial

These files are a bit of a mishmash of file versions as Yauws only supports version beta 5, also at this stage these files will show version as RC2, modify as necessary.

This will set up some initial blocks and content to get you started.

1) install smf RC1 - check that it works
upgrade to RC2 (if you can) - check that it works

2) Download the Yauws portal here

3) In the Yauws package delete the folder "forum"

4) Upload the remaining Yauws items to your site (not in the same folder as SMF)

5) Copy your SMF Settings.php to the Yauws folder

6) Open portal_config (in portal root) and change the following to your site paths ..

Quote$portal['smf_path']         =   '/home/mysite/public_html/forum/';
$portal['home_dir']         =   '/home/mysite/public_html/';
$portal['home_url']         =   'http://www.mysite.com/';
$portal['home_name']         =   'Mysitename';

7) Copy your modified portal_config.php to your forum root (where SSI.php is)

(8> run the portal install.php (it will install to your SMF database)

9) Download my modified files here

10) Upload these files into their respective SMF directories replacing any existing files (save the originals 1st)

**Ignore the aquamania index.template.php unless using these themes**

11) Go to the portal index.php in your browser and check if it's working, it should just be showing the forum header and menu etc at this stage.

**Ensure your database is backed up**

12) If you have access to phpMyAdmin run "__tutorial-SQL__.sql" (found in my download) on your database. Then go back to the portal index.php, you should now see my content and some blocks.

13) Go to the portal admin.php (in the root of the portal) and play around.

Done

Thunderace,

Thanks for posting the tutorial.  I'd like to give it a try but I get a "Error reading header.." error on your forum.tar.tar archive - would you mind checking that archive?

Thanks,
John

Where do you get an error Slack?

Opening the .tar file.

No redistribution here - I've got a test site at bloozbox.com

Thanks,

I guess if it's just the language file it's fine...
