Another xsorbit x5 to SMF

After seeing how much more there is to offer with a full fledged SMF forum I have decided to take the plunge and attempt to convert my X5 Xsorbit board.  I have the SQL download and it looks very similiar to the one Andycoll has.

I have already went through the file and changed ) TYPE=; to ) ;.

Jay, did you decide what to do with the error that seems to occur at the beginning of every table:

<br />
<b>Notice</b>: Undefined index:  Type in <b>/home/xsorbit/public_html/users5/southernspirithunters/Sources/DumpDatabase.php</b> on line <b>303</b>

This error occurs 33 times in the SQL structure backup.  I've opened a support ticket with Xsorbit but there doesn't seem to be much movement there.  So far they have forwarded my concern to the technical staff.

Anyway, if there is anything else I need to do before attempting the conversion, please let me know.

Thanks
Jim

Well I've just about completed the conversion but have run into a stopper.  I used the upgrade package like most everyone said but I don't have a settings.php file or a settings_bak.php file.  When I try to run the upgrade.php I get a white screen.  I know it is because I don't have these files.  Should I just create them?  What should they contain?

I'm stuck!

Ok, I downloaded the full install package, uploaded the Settings and Settings_bak files, ran restore-settings, but I still get a white screen and nothing else when I run upgrade.php.

Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?  I'm going to make sure I have all the files now.

Did you make the edits to your database information in Settings.php?

It needs that to connect to the database.

Yep, sure did.  I made the edits with repair settings.  But when I run the upgrade.php I get a white screen.

does upgrade.php have the proper permissions? try chmodding it to 755 or 777 -- also make sure its ownership properties are right.

Did you rerun repair_settings.php to fix any of the database entries and paths and such after you edited the DB information?  It wouldn't have been able to pull those without that data.

I needed to rerun repair_settings.  Thank you.  That was way simplier than I thought it was going to be.

That was far simpler than i thought as well!

You're welcome :)

I guess this one can be marked as solved too.  If I had known about the helpful info here I would have gotten away from Xsorbit lots sooner.

One thing of note is that Xsorbit finally responded to my trouble ticket and said the undefined index error on the SQL backup wasn't anything so I removed all 33 statements.  I also changed
Quote) TYPE=; to ) ;
removing the TYPE=.  The SQL file uploaded without a single error.

I used the upgrade package so I didn't have the Settings or Settings_bak files.  I downloaded the full install package to get those.  Once I uploaded those I downloaded the repair_settings file, ran it twice because the first time I didn't fill in the settings correctly.  The second time, the recommendations were right on and everything worked just like the online docs said.

After I had the forum up and running I had to change some of the features and settings because the themes and smileys were pointing to the wrong directory, etc.

Thanks to metallica48423 for coming along and providing some suggestions while I was doing this.

Thanks to SMF for the best forum software!

I would be glad to help anyone else attempting to convert from Xsorbit X5 to SMF.
