It's one of IE7's rendering bugs... I do belive that Bloc is working on fixing it ;)

And it's also on IE6  ;)

@Daniel: Package parser is working fine on our site. Thanks again!

Remember @developers, SMF shouldn't be browser dependent! It should be able to catch with all browsers (if new one comes) like vB :)

Unfortunately, while a properly coded site will work in Opera, Firefox, Mozilla (and Safari, I assume?), it will most likely have minor glitches in IE. Unfortunately, this means we need hacks to get the site working properly in Internet Explorer...
This is not a problem with our site... Rather, it's a problem with Internet Explorer ;).

IE doesn't bother or going to change according to SMF. But SMF have to add code fix for IE.

Gary

We could just make all users use Firefox. :P

easiest fix  :P
if($context['browser']['is_ie'])
    die('We don\'t speak Microsoft!');

But truly most of these bugs are due to IE not correctly following standards. Even though most browsers do not IE has a problem of being the worse

QuoteEven though most browsers do not
Opera is one of the most standards-compliant browsers, as is Firefox ;)
Meanwhile, Microsoft invent their own "standards" :P

Evidently, Microsoft think that because that they rule the OS market, they can make their own standards for everything else. :P

Thus, making them idiots. ;P

Couple of Safari issues.

1. Safari Display Bug. See attachment.

Seems new, as I haven't noticed this before.

2. Also, Safari still gets that permanent "Loading" message at the top after editing a post.

Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3), OS X 10.4.9.

Gary

Hard refresh. Press Ctrl+F5.

@ALM, ppl who know about browsers and scripting etc.. know the problem and they can refresh or doesn't bother about these things. What about newbies? Even silly error message will impact on thier mentality!

Macs don't do Ctrl=+F5 on Safari.

To do a Hard refresh I believe you hold shift and click the refresh button (or the key combo I forgot)

Nitins60,
It might of been something bloc forgot to do.

These bugs have been around for a long time now. It doesn't give a good impression. It matters not one jot that they are result of IE not following standards. The bugs should be fixable. If SMF are unwilling or unable to fix them, perhaps the SMF site should use one of the old themes instead. It looks plain sloppy in IE, especially after a few months of implementing the new theme. Has anyone noted the bug on top right-hand corner? There's a big block sticking out there when viewed with IE.

SleePy

Col,

It is hard with all the different versions of IE and with all of them incorrectly rendering even in its updates may break how a site works.

We do try and the site team is looking into fixing them but is trying to get the rest of the site updated that need to be updated to the new theme as well.

Hi,

I appreciate that it's difficult and time consuming, but since SMF already have themes that work across browsers, why not use one of them whilst work is been carried out on the new theme? An old but working theme is far preferable to a new but buggy theme.
