SMF vs. Godzilla? Who do you think will win?

If messing with your firewall doesn't work, personally, I would try accessing it via http://localhost/forum/ (this is assuming that the forum folder is directly inside the htdocs folder - if you use Apache for the server on your computer).
I'm a lurker. It's the best way to learn.

Is this issue solved or do you still require assistance?

As a note localhost does have problems saving cookies. This is a browser problem that is meant for security reasons.

those types of URLS may not work as some routers can not go back to themselves and end up just giving up.
Your best bet may be to edit your hosts file and add your lan ips to loopback to your computer. You can google around for more information for your system to get it done right ;)
