It is highly recommended to upgrade, as 2.1.1 fixes a lot of bugs and adds few features.

Eliana Tamerin

Actually, we at least recommend upgrading to 2.0.5. If you do not wish to have the sidebars within the forum, then the Classic version (or 2.0.x) is the version you'll want. 2.1.x essentially does the same thing, with a few added features.

At least upgrade to 2.0.5. If you want more features, then upgrade to 2.1.1.

Jade Elizabeth

The announcements on the SimplePortal website will help with that.

I actually have 2.0.5, I also have 2.0.4 in the packages but its not installed, 2.1.1 gives me an error on istall, I like the 2.0.5 but i want random gallery images to display on the portal...Besides that i had a poll on my fourm and 90% of the vote liked portal as well... :D

Eliana Tamerin

You have to uninstall 2.0.5 to install 2.1.1. If you have errors, post them here or check out our new Install and Upgrade support board.

ya i did that, i reinstalled 2.0.5 , 2.1.1 just wouldn't rewrite the style.css sheet... now back to the 2.0.5 the copyright is overlapped gain, Cant remember how i fixed it last time now...

Eliana Tamerin

Ctrl+F5 refreshes your cache. Should fix the issue.

Also, the style.css changes are minimal. If you attach your style.css here, we could help you apply those changes so you can upgrade to 2.1.1.

I have noticed, that if the Custom Copyright mod is installed before SimplePortal 2.1.1, the CSS edit fails for SP. That is because the Custom Copyright mod does the very same change. This means, if that is installed, then the css part is already done for you, and you can continue without doing that change.

Bugpac ™

ok i upgraded to 2.1.1 and it went but the copyright is still overlapped...

Does simpleportal 2.1.1 work with the SMF Media Gallery now?  or is that a media gallery issue?

Bugpac ™

tridirk

I installed this today...  Everything looked great, package manager, said no errors, I installed and this is what I get?

QuoteUnknown column 'permission_type' in 'field list'
File: /home/u7/tridirk1/html/smf/Sources/Subs-SPortal1-1.php
Line: 44

I can't get any other part of my forum, or even back to the package manager to uninstall this?

While you are creating a block, you will see the options, as a separate block at the bottom.

tridirk:

Extract the package. Copy the install1-1.php file and upload to your forum root. Then run it from your browser. Once you see the message saying the db changes are completed, remove the file.

bullbreedluverz:

2.1 has some serious bugs, update to 2.1.1. That issue was addressed with 2.1.1 too.
