I built a converter to migrate the data to the built in profile fields.

If I understand correctly, your mod has extra tables, and you convert them to use the smf_themes table instead? Wouldn't it be better to convert your mod and still make it use extra tables? I've been thinking of doing that for a while -- and, yes, it's a pity that I can't use SMF's built-in system, but I'm planning to add dozens of custom profiles for my specific needs, and it would be a very bad idea to load them into the themes variable on every page load when they're really only needed on the profile page.

Yep my mod uses 3 extra tables. Keeps it all nice and clean. I just got a lot of grief over the mod interface being almost identical to an existing mod even though the coding is 99% different. That alone turns me off to re-writing all the SQL queries to be SMF 2 compatible. If I do anything it will be to improve the built-in custom profile field interface. I want to add a popup on the posts like I had in my mod.

Hi winrules - I figured out as much elsewhere in the thread. Thanks for the headsup - your method is certainly easier than a custom SQL command if someone doesn't have access to (or isn't comfortable with) a tool like PHPMyAdmin.

Is this only about the query rewriting?
You do realize you can replace most of them with a simple search/replace?
You could even bypass the security system ({string:something}) if you're confident your security is good enough, by using a special parameter in place of "__FILE__, __LINE__" (again, simple search & replace).

Seems to look good, although I can't install it on my boards (most of them are already using SMF2, and one of them is a very old 1.1 rc2). Will have to see. Would you like me to do a quick attempt at converting the mod? It could be an incentive for me to start doing my own custom code based on yours.

Wow.  I upgraded my test forum to this and it was flawless.  There are only issues with some of my mods and the Autumn Dark theme I'm using, but with the default theme everything looks and works great!  I can't wait until some of the mods that I use are updated to work with 2.0 so I can test them out.  Great work.

Absolutely agree. I use the default theme on a production site, and it's still working beautifully.
