iceman~

Don't know why i am getting confused doing this, but, i am LOL.

Ok phew ...

Trying to setup my forums in a way where.
1 .... when a new member registers he gets to see the introduction topic only, all other topics are hidden.
2 .... Only after he post an intro, which gets moderated and only if its approved that he gets to view all the other topics.
i know its not difficult and i had done it with SMF 1.1.4 ( leaving aside the moderated part ) but i am lost here.

Kindly help ...
Thanks.

It is relatively easy to do - just a bit time-consuming...

Step 1: Create a new group for users who have at least 1 post (the "Newbie" group now be used only for users who haven't posted yet):

Admin -> (Members ->) Membergroups
Click "Add New Group" under "Post count based groups"
Enter 1 in the "Required Posts" box
Check the box next to all the boards you want members in that group to see after they've made their first post.
Click "Create Group"

Step 2: Fix board access (this will ensure that users who haven't posted can only see the intro board)
Go back to the main membergroups page and click on "Newbie"
Uncheck all boxes except the one next to the intro board and save the changes.

Step 3: Set up permissions...

Admin -> (Members ->) Permissions
Click "Settings"
Check the box next to "Enable permissions for post count groups" and save the changes.

Go back to the permissions area.
Click "Edit Profiles"
At the bottom of the page in the "New Profile" box, type a name (this can be whatever you want).
Leave "Copy Permissions From" at "Default".
After the new profile is created, click on its name to edit permissions.
Change permissions for the "Newbie" group to reflect the permissions you want users to have on the "intro" board after they first register (this will include requiring post moderation).
Set permissions for other groups to your liking.

Step 4: Apply the new permissions profile to the intro board

From the permissions area, click "Board Permissions"
Click on the intro board
Change the permission profile to the newly created profile
Save the changes

That should do it.

iceman~

Sorry mate .. followed ur instructions to the T ... but still does not help.
when i reach this part :-

"Step 2: Fix board access (this will ensure that users who haven't posted can only see the intro board)
Go back to the main membergroups page and click on "Newbie"
Uncheck all boxes except the one next to the intro board and save the changes."

I click on newbie and i see the members in that group instead of any boxes ... and if i click on the modify icon i can select the boards members in that group can access. i select the boards they can access but they still get to see all boards ??

I guess i am doing something wrong ... Please help Mate.

Fatality-

This is because the membergroup 'Regular Members' are given the access.

iceman~
