Well I figured that I would start this topic for newbies especially since I had two bad experience with people who I hired here to work on my site.

I would like for all who had a GOOD or BAD experience with some one who did work for free or paid. I think this will give people looking for honesty a good place to start

If the forum staff allows this thread I would like you to post a reply

(1) Job- Free Or Paid
(2) User name of Person hired
(3) Good or Bad Experience
(4) Details if any

Thanks.

Hmm this is one of them threads that threatens to go 'ping' at any moment....

Some people are better than others with smf thats just life,Try and learn things for yourself by reading other threads and if you need to hire somone then check their posts out to see how they have helped others in the past. Never trust somone you dont know with valuable information until you are satisfied you can by whatever means.

If you are new here trust the smf staff only until you have a better idea. Check other threads where work has been done to see who is doing a good job for others to get an idea of things.Basically use common sense and judgement as best you can and if your not sure then dont commit to something.

There is no point naming people in here as good and bad since it is always one persons opinion of another and some people get along and others dont.I wouldnt recomend naming people here as it has potential for confrontation and maybe twisted versions of truths.

I would read the thread about accepting help posted above and do as it says and be carefull accepting help paid or otherwise.

In my experience, topics like these are made for flaming rather than a true service.

Not to attack him, but take Jahsun's post. His issue with ccbtimewiz is being discussed in the Help Wanted forum, where ccbtimewiz has refuted his arguments. But here, there are no listed grievances, only "Experience= Bad." That says little about what went wrong, whether the person just wound up being too busy to help after promising for days, or whether they destroyed the forum instead of cleaning it up.

The issue I see is flaming and arguments transferring to this topic and spilling out of the original one. Since Jahsun hasn't responded to ccbtimewiz' rebuttal, I would not consider the issue closed, and I don't think it's appropriate to have posted a reputation here based on an unresolved issue.

Thanks for all the advice.

Some people are good at SMF and some are not like myself I agree but some take advantage of that situation. I ask for the affiliate mod to be properly installed ( I tried manually doing it but no luck) in the paid section.

ccbtimewiz took the job and I ask at first what is the charge? He said free but I was still willing to pay. He did everything I did not ask including upgrading to 1.1.5 which I could have done myself (I appreciate the work at first). When he was finished he told me that he had one last file to install which I needed but first he would like to be paid.

WOW, he said not cash but get him trillion pro (I think that is the spelling) which cost $25. I said fine give me 2-3 days. I got it for him as a gift. He also told me if I did he would give me free support but I said instead of free support how about more of a partnership? he said ok ( Meaning  your getting paid instead of free service)

Before I could contact him via IM but after I purchased the the trillion pro I could not get him even when he was online. Now the forum security code will not work I have to disable it so that people can join. This was working fine before now I got crazy spammers joining and posting porns and all kinds of stuff, I use my SMF for people interested in making money trading freebie sites and other money making ops not porn.

I just figure he would keep his word since I kept mine. I was not looking for free service, I was willing to pay and maybe some kind of partnership.

Now I guess I will just work with the staff and continue learning.

Thanks again for all the feedback

And this is what I mean about arguments spilling over to this thread.

I must agree with Eliana.

I can see where it'd be useful, but i can see it becoming a source of ill will much quicker.

Maybe just a recomend thread like this would be better.

If somone does a good job you recomend then and say you are happy with their work done and what it was maybe.

If they dont do a good job they get no feedback as such here.

You may think well 'xyz' person didnt do 'abc' for me but if this thread continued as intended it would end up with people all arguing over their own points and no real constructive feedback.

If you pay somone for work then dont part with cash until you are happy the work is as intended and pre agree what that should be.Then you are not left out of pocket if an agreement doenst work out.

Eliana Tamerin

Agreed, Nightbre. Many people do start their own threads for this, however, in Help Available, where they list their services and people can reply with feedback. I don't really see the need except for those who don't have threads there.

Maybe the trader system/mod would be a great addition to smf for the members to use. Well I am trying to understand the system little by little I think that is the best way to go.

Thank you all for your comments.
