PM Popup - Uses Active Windowv1.3
By [n3rve]

Introduction
If appropraite settings are configured, users get a pop up with the following message when they receive new personal messages:

"You have received one or more new personal messages.
View them now (in a new window)?

Certain Clients on your forum may render this feature useless if their browser's Popup Blocker is set to high. This mod changes behaviour so the active window is used upon clicking the "ok" button.

Compatibility

o 1.1.6

Theme modifications aren't required!
This mod changes a line in the Subs.php Source file and a language string.

Installation (SMF 2.0 Users)
They were little changes between SMF 1.1x and 2.0 for opening PM windows, therefore; Custom Theme Edits are required. Upload and parse this mod using the Package Parser for manual edits. This mod will install on the Default, Classic and Babylon Theme.

Glad, multiple forums use this and it works perfectly with your version of SMF as stated on the mod site.

With 200+ downloads, your the first having an issue with this.
Perhaps, the changes were not made.

These are the 1.1.4 modifications

In the Admin CP -> Themes and Layout -> Reset Options tab ->
"Reset all members current options for this theme" (this would be your theme)
-> "Show a popup when you receive new messages?" ->
Pull up change, check the box and apply changes.

I believe you are using SMF 1.1.x right?
This was working initially, what happened? Can you attach the current files the mod makes changes to?

Can you  provide additional information?
Did you get any errors when installing the mod? It doesn't alter the Admin.template.php file so the reset options button should be there.

I installed this mod on 2.0 Beta 3.1 Public successfully,
but when i test it on my own pc by sending a pm from test account to admin account,
i didn't get a notification, what should i do to make this mod take effect on smf 2.0 Beta 3.1 Public?

please help me, because i like this feature very much
thanks

malcomxar

Can you post a few screenshots to see how it is?

Many thanks!

slackerpunk

isn't this feature built-in to smf already under Profile > Private Message Options

ddarrell

--thanks for a great mod!

we have had members that never knew that they had received a PM, due to their browser killing pop-ups.  using the active window for the 'you have a  PM' message solves this problem.

ddarrell

(installed on 1.1.6 with no errors)
i know just enough to really screw up ;D
