Charles.. I have a question.. when do you think it will be ready for the newer smf release?

and also, what type plug ins do you think could work with this? I think i really do like this mod of yours and i can see it working in a few different ways.. very nice lol..

cheers!!  ;D
I won't be making it compatible with SMF 2.0 until Blog Community is closer to being bug free.  Plus it still seems to me that they are going to make some changes to SMF 2.0... makes me not want to rush into anything just yet.

I have several ideas for plug-ins already:
Ad management
Ad revenue sharing
Article ratings
Moods

@ NIBOGO... 2.0.3 Beta isn't available yet.  I just wanted to let everyone know what I had done so far.

that sounds great Charles.. if i wasnt so backed up, or can make the time, i have a few ideas myself.. im thinking radio/mp3 player, perhaps some kind of download type block, either for tp/sp/portamx or the downloads mod from smf.. also a way to perhaps change the colors of "memeber" blogs to the group colors (ie: for admin, its red) and some more but want to get them all written down, and not sure on how complicated.. i do like the simple.. ;)

Ok Charles thanks for your work

Please contact me for the spanish translation when you finish the languages of the mod
Will do :)

I've been trying to cut down on the total # of language strings to make it easier to translate.

This may be more of a feature than a plugin... but how about a [more] tag?  Then instead of using the "Maximum length of articles on the main wetspot page" setting, you could place this tag where you wanted the article to break.  Then it would show a [Read more...] link at that spot, rather than cutting it off at some unknown point in the middle of a paragraph.  The tag could also be used as the bookmark/anchor when bringing up the full article.

Hum,  I ran into an issue..
I got a very old version of Blog installed, version 1.11.. And it gives me a few "Test failed" when trying to uninstall..

Since the version I got installed is not around anymore, how to I go about to manually uninstall now? :)

I want to upgrade to the latest version of Blog Community

Smoky "Rider" Blue

if you would, via ftp, find in the packages area the old blog package, and download that to your desktop..

open it up and all the xml files.. then figure out where your errors are, on what page, and find out what you need to remove..

if you need help, pm me with your ftp details and a test admin acct and i will remove it for you..  :)

There are actually two edits to make, you have to add it to the button array and add in the button code. Unzip the blog archive on your local machine and open install.xml and find the edits made to index.template.php and make those edits to index.template.php in your current theme.

Charles,

It's taken me a few days to respond to this, but it's still an issue.

Now, I followed the instructions in the "add button" Docs, as much as possible, as well as copying the actual button code from the default index.template.php to the theme (DMC_115).  I have no idea what to look for as far as the install.xml file goes... nor what to do.

But the buttons still won't show up.  I'm trying to add them to the DMC_115 theme.

Help....

Have you read this article I wrote about adding nav links to your main nav menu?
http://degreesofzero.com/index.php/topic,21.0.html

Charles,

Since I copied it from the default theme, understanding the code wasn't the problem...

Actually, though, I discovered the problem was a glitch.  For some reason my php editor had not saved the file as a php file...  >:(  (grrrrrr-- not to you... to the php editor...)

I since corrected it and it works perfectly now...

But thanks.  That article is a good explanation of the coding, which I had been pestering antechinus about...

Someone had suggested just this actually.  It's a good idea and I intend to add it :)

@trackermo... Happy to hear you got things sorted out :)

Charles,

Here's a really, REALLY stupid question... and maybe I should just continue hunting for the answer... How do you edit a blog article?  Maybe others never edit... but I am one to edit, then re-edit, then add another thought... so editing is absolutely crucial...

But, though I've looked all around, I can find no way to edit a blog...

Thanks!

on the blog you will see the first blog post.. right??

there are 2 buttons on the top right, "share and options.."  it is the paper and pencil on the very left that will let you edit the blog.. :)

Smoky Blue,

Hmmm.... well, there you are!

Because that's not showing up... I have Lock, Share, Print and Notify.  But no pencil.  Boo-hoo.  It also doesn't show up in my default theme...

I wonder if it has to do with the way I set up blogs in the admin area... checking...

Mo

Charles Hill

You're the admin and the edit isn't showing up but other options are?

Uhhh.  Are you getting any errors in the error log?  Does edit_16.gif exist on your server at Themes/default/images/icons ?
