Uh, I'm sorry, when importing a board I still get :

Database Error
Unknown column 'blog_category_id' in 'field list'
File: /I/always/forget/to/edit/that/zCommunity/Sources/ImportSMF.php
Line: 154

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.7, while your database is at version 1.1.6. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

I also do seem to have a blog already. Some ghost blog (probably a remnant of a failed attempt at creating one with the older version of zcommunity) is present, but it wasn't visible on blog community. Trying to delete it from the last zcommunity gives the following error :

Database Error
Unknown column 'blog_id' in 'where clause'
File: /yes/yesyesyes/yes/so/yes/allthat/zCommunity/Sources/Subs-Blogs.php
Line: 287

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.7, while your database is at version 1.1.6. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

And trying to access it leads to :

Database Error
Unknown column 'bs.blog_id' in 'on clause'
File: /y/a/w/n/.../zCommunity/Sources/Load.php
Line: 135

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.7, while your database is at version 1.1.6. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

Maybe there is a way to manually clean it. But would it solve the problems ?

Also, am I mistaken or was the blog community page completely removed from the SMF mods site ?

Charles, I have 1 more question.  Is it possible to edit/delete articles/comments using zC?  I can't seem to be able to.

Yea... As super admin, you should be able to do anything.  If you want to let others be able to do things you'll have to look at the Permissions tab in your blog control panel.

If you are missing the images icons on your server or if they aren't in the right place, you won't be able to see them.  You should check to make sure they're where they're supposed to be.

@Xepernas... Try dropping all of the zcomm related tables in your db and then run install_db_edits.php from your forum's main folder.

Hi Charles:

I like and don't like Blog Community (and am too little of a techy to install zCommunity).  However, the biggest problem I'm having now is that I can't register at your site to ask questions and get support.  I've registered as QueenTiye and as QT_Too (or something like that) but I never receive the activation email, so I never can log in.  And - I've got a bunch of questions and suggestions... so... help?

if you cant get the activation from Charles' site, just post it all here, he will get it either way..  ;)

Ok, here's the freaky stuff I did (yes, this looks like brain surgery, to us proud noubs).

Went to some phpmyadmin console. Found a "structure" list with several database's_name_smf_blog_stuff including a _smf_blog_blogs that I emptied. It was indeed containing the 'ghost blog remnants', and the reinstalled zcomm didn't see it after this action (it was telling me I had 0 blogs, which is very good). However upon importation of a board, I got the same error as usual.

So, back to the phpmyadmin thingy. Shall I delete (instead of empty) all the _blog_ entries in that structure list ? Is that what you were suggesting ?

Dropping a table means you remove the table from your database.  This is different from just emptying it.  The install_db_edits.php is not capable of checking your current zCommunity related database tables for accuracy... yet.  I will be making additional functions for checking your current tables against what the sources files think the tables should look like (structurally) so that you won't have to do any of this manually.  But for now, you'll have to drop all those tables and just run the install_db_edits.php manually.

I just activated QueenTiye for you :)

Xepernas

Excellent. I deleted all the entries with "_blog_" in the name, assuming they would be the zcomm-related ones. And then I installed zcomm (which runs install_db_edits anyway). Now, when I try to import a board, I get a much more awesome error :

An Error Has Occurred!
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

I did, of course, but I keep getting this. Looks like it does the importation despite of it (although it doesn't remove the board from the forum, like blogcommunity used to - maybe this is precisely the step where it fails to recognize my admin account). Any idea on how to correct it ?

Charles Hill

It's not supposed to remove the board from the forum.  Just in case something went wrong, I don't want you to lose anything.  As for the session verification thing... I'll check that out when I get back home in a couple hours.

Hi Charles,

I have 1.1.7
Blog Community 2.0.2
SimplePortal 2.1.1

I have problems with my SP not showing bottom and right blocks on portal page and also showing SP blocks on all of the members Blogs. This happens even if I have SP disabled. I have asked SP for help and they are saying that There seems to be something overriding SPortal templates. Possibly the Blog Community mod.

So I am trying to uninstall the Blog Community and I get these errors:

./Sources/ManagePermissions.php Test failed
./Sources/Subs.php Test failed
./Themes/default/index.template.php Test failed

What I am trying to do is see if this is indeed causing the problems with the portal. If so would adding the zCommunity possibly work with SP better??

I need to keep the blogs for the members so I will do whatever you think is best to get them all to play nice together lol!!

I also am using the following mods:

Mod Name Version
1. Remove SMF Logo 1.2
2. Hide Info Center From Guests 1.0
3. SMF Trader System 1.2
4. SMF 1.0.14 / 1.1.6 Update 1.0
5. SMF 1.0.15 / 1.1.7 Update 1.0
6. SMF Classifieds 1.2.12
7. Advanced Login Form 1.0
8. Custom Copyright 1.1
9. Bakers Dozen Pages 1.01
10. Look But No Read 1.2
11. Contact Page 1.1
12. Custom Profile Field Mod 3.19
13. Are You Human? Anti-Bot Registration Check 1.3
14. SMF Classifieds 1.2.15
15. SMFShop 3.0
16. Blog Community (for 1.1.x) 2.0.2
17. Manage Members Membergroups 1.0.0
18. Add PM Info To Header (v1.1) 1.0
19. SMF Staff Page 1.6
20. SimplePortal 2.1.1

Thanks so much in advance!!

you must go in manually and remove the code from those files.

if you have a custom theme as well, then you need to remove the code from that too..  ;)

Thanks!! So do I do the uninstall first or change the codes first?? Sorry still trying to wrap myself around how all this works lol!!  :) :)

Charles Hill

@LaughOften.... I'd do the manual uninstall of those few files it is failing on, set those altered files aside on your computer, then perform the uninstall via the package manager, and then upload those few files you manually altered to your server where they need to be.

All went well with Blog Community uninstall Thanks!!

Of course that did not fix the problems with SimplePortal !!

So I decided to install zCommunity. It went without a hitch. I managed to get my member blogs back. How Cool!!!!. I only have one little problem which I notice is an IE7 problem. Works fine in Firefox.

I am in my blog/ Blog Control Panel and all of the tabs that say Blog Settings, Themes, Categories, Permissions, etc. are over laying on the board below. So like now I am in Blog settings and I can't read what the first thing is because the tabs are over it, But in firefox it looks great and it says  Visible    Hidden

Any ideas how to fix this?

Charles Hill

IE7 really?  I don't get that...... Hrmmmmmm... What's your operating system?

I am also getting this same thing. It does import the blogs but each time you get the error

How can we remove the blogs from the boards. I don't want the blogs on the forum and in blogs too lol!!
