I didn't find the root cause of the IE8 problem...but this seems to have fixed it for me

look in Shoutbox.template.php
Line 52
comment it out or delete...
//if ($context['browser']['is_ie'])

';

//if ($context['browser']['is_ie'])
echo '
Shoutbox.ie = 1;';
if (!empty($shoutbox['showmsg_down']))
echo '

forcing hxxp:shoutbox.ie [nonactive] = 1; to be output

tested to work using IE8, Firefox, and Chrome

hi!

Is there a version of the shoutbox that works with smf 2.0 rc3?
help greatly appreciated ! :)

regards

//EDIT: alright, im sorry for asking, didnt read the posts a few pages back.
But still, I managed to install it on RC3. It's working but looks really weird, due to the fact that it was not designed for the new curve theme I think.
I think that should be easy to fix... its probably just the wrong css class or something (needs the curved edges).
Did anyone already tried this, or can help me out here?

EDIT2: ok I figure it has to do with this part in Shoutbox.template.php:

<div class="tborder"' . (!isset($context['shoutbox_popup']) ? ' style="margin:10px 0">

' . $shoutbox['boxTitle'] . '

' : ' style="margin:5px">') . '
<div id="shoutbox"' . (!isset($context['shoutbox_popup']) ? ' style="display:none">' : '>');

But dunno how to chage it though... help?

Yeah I have actually been looking for this mod also. I'm using the simple portal shout and it isnt bad but there are a couple features I would like from this one.

LLStarks

How do I disable the mod's http referrer? My site users have to cut and paste 4chan image links in order to access the images. I'd like them to be able to simply click on the links.

hi,
i am using 2.0 rc3

MOD: SMFPACKS shoutbox

I have installed the SMFPACKS shoutbox. The Sound was not enabling in the shout box

Hey sorry got solution for sound.. but if icons changes when sound enabled & diabled that will be good

And i dint find few more options in it.

-> No option to block the words or Sites ,which i dont want to allow to post in shoutbox

First off, thank you so much for taking this over. Our forum was hurting for a good shoutbox and none of the replacements would install as smoothly or work as well as this one.

Ok, now onto the insignificant bugs that I've found:

First, I'm getting the redirect as others have gotten when hitting "moderate". Not a huge deal considering I'm the only one with access to that page.

Second, "auto hide" seems to be broken (at least on the theme I'm using). When I use auto-hide, maximizing the shoutbox results in a completely blank chat log and it does not allow me to add anything (I can type in the box, but hitting enter results in nothing). This isn't a huge deal, but I know a lot of members on the forum like keeping everything simple and would like to keep it hidden unless they use it.

Again, thanks so much! I've been waiting forever for this update!

1. Button background changes when it's enabled or disabled.

2. It's something that can be included

Without shoutbox the forums width is correct:
