I installed everything correctly, atleast I think. When I finished it seemed all good until I went to the /index.php.
This is what it gives me

Welcome to SMF

It doesn't appear that it is installed correctly.  The page source shows nothing but a 2 line godaddy ad script.

Problem is, I followed that step by step three times. And thats all I get as well.

Might be time to log a support ticket to GoDaddy, because something is definitely not right.

Is the Host Name the same as the Server Name?

JimM

I'm not sure what you are asking.  The host name is usually the name of the hosting company.  Some hosting companies name their servers.  If you have questions about your host, you will need to ask them.

i use go daddy u can automatically install the smf forum but it wont work on the free host you have to purchase one

JimM

The information that should have been provided by your host should have covered that.  I don't host on GoDaddy so I'm not going to be much help with that.

I never messed with any of that and we use godaddy, uninstall it and then go to your hosting domain and you can go to my appellations and automatically download the smf board
but it wont work if ur on a windows hosting or if your trying to use the free hosting that comes with the domain

hope that helped some

I've noticeD MySQL resides on a different server with GoDaddy so 'localhost' doesn't work. You can find this information somewhere in the Control Panel. It usually has names like: ftp21.mysqlserver.hosql.net and the likes.
