Well the code posted is from themes that have authors which you would need to contact more than likely before using their code in a mod and ask them if its ok. Antechinus should be able to tell you which ones.
PM at your own risk, some I answer, if they are interesting, some I ignore.

You can use that code in a mod if you like. It is very loosely based on a free code from CSSMenuMaker.com but it's similar to such codes from all over the place and in any case has been reworked to hell and back.

If you want to go ahead and try to turn it into a mod I could actually clean the code up a bit first. Not hard to do and would give a slightly better end product.

Also note that the drop menus will not display in IE6 or earlier, and frankly I don't care. I'm not into encouraging people to use the horrible old thing and the toolbar buttons still work, so they can use those if they have to.

that would be great. any help you can give me to do this would be great. im a total newbie and this will be my first mod ever

Antechinus

I don't know anything about making mods as such, but I'm happy to tweak the menu code because it'd be handy for me to have the cleaner version anyway. I just haven't got around to it yet.

I could do it for SMF 2 as well. Very easy to sort that. Css edits are exactly the same.

coucnilhomeswap

that would be great. make it for both 1.1.7 and 2.0 beta

Antechinus

Yup. I've already done Babylon for 2b4. It's basically just simpler coding in index.template because you don't need to include the buttons (since they are handled in Subs.php).

There's no point trying to make the mod handle Babylon and Core though because Babylon and Classic are most likely going to be dropped from RC2 anyway. Just do it for Core.

coucnilhomeswap

well we can both do it for SMF 1.1.7 and SMF 2.0. ive had a go at the beta version and think it great. glad when it can be used on a public site

i can not figure out how to make a mod. i dunno were to begin, ive read the docs on it but it dont say how to get started or anything. im totally lost :-X

Antechinus

Me neither. Right at the moment I have too much on my plate to worry about it too. If you want to make a mod out of it you'll have to figure it out with someone else's help.
