Hey Guys,

I have smf 1.1.8 installed. I want this forum to verison 2.0 RC1.

I have searched through the support docs and the forums but I can't find anything specific on this installation. I don't want to loose my boards and topics nor my users (some of my settings are already setup the way I want it).

Do I have to upload the zip file to my 1.1.8 directory and unzip there overwritting everything? Will I loose my settings, registered users and posts?

I already did a backup from the maintenance section of my forums. Do I need to export anything from my mysql or will that backup be enough?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I also would like to know how to do this.

When I upgraded my forum from 1.1.7 to 2.0 BETA 4, I used Webinstall.

I'm not 100% sure now, but they may have an upgrade/update from 1.1.8 to 2.0 RC1...

Did you loose any data? Your forum posts and board titles? your users or passwords?

I'd suggest backing up your database

I already did from the admin panel in my forums. or do you mean from mysql?

phpMyTony

Do it from MySQL aswell, to be safe.

bbefox

Ok, I'm going to do that right now and place the webinstall.php file in that directory and follow through that....I'll be back to let you guys know how it went.

phpMyTony

Alright, cool :)

Edit: Go into ftp and copy all your files to your computer to be safe.

God, I really hate godaddy's interface...and how they make you wait for "pending setup" ...I like cPanel better...

I get this error:

QuoteUnable to connect to FTP server with this combination of details.

I've already confirmed my login details though.....

I was selecting UPGRADE option...

Use the Large Upgrade Package here for SMF 2.0 RC1. Overwrite all your forum files with the new ones and run upgrade.php.
