This doesnt work on our new smf and i dont know why.

If i press the Icon to make bold (or italic or something else) it doesnt write the expected tag.

that should be:

[i][/i]

This is really weird. We tried another theme but there was the problem as well.

Is there a solution? Or how can i fix that?

Thanks a lot!

Maybe you should start by reading this:

OR, try the support board if you believe this is an error in the installation rather than a bug.

How you can help SMF

What browser are you using?

I can't replicate it myself.

Thanks for the replies. We use smf with joomla bridged.

IT WORKS STAND ALONE.

So the wierd behaviour is caused by the integration into joomla. But idk where i have to look in now, because i dont know how this bbc works.

The problem is there with every browser like ie7, firefox, chrome..
I hoped that somebody can tell me in which source files and code i have to look in or if there are any other related files (css?) that create those tags...

Some questions that might help us replicate it.

1. Are you using 2.0 rc1? [older version have wysiwyg bugs that are fixed]
2. Is wysiwyg enabled? [does it appear as active html in the window, eg bold text appears bold, or does it show as bbcode]
3. Did you write the text in, or copy and paste it in?
4. Does it happen here on this site as well?
5. what browser are you using? Are you sending a fake browser useragent?

2. no wysiwyg
3. write in and use the icon bar
4. happens in joomla (just recognized it) . i couldnt see that behaviour somewhere else
5. standard browsers (firefox, chrome, ie7)

joomla to SMF Bridge 2.x

karlbenson

is this the official bridge that was pulled? or a 3rd party bridge.

If its a third party one I'd say you should raise it with the authors of that bridge.
If its the official smf one that was pulled, then we might need to move this to our bridges/integrations forum.

(As I've never used bridges myself)

I'm working with Dixus on the same site...

The bridge is :   Simple Joomla! 1.5.x to SMF 2.x bridge

I guess that is a 3rd Party Bridge??

Which of these bridges should we use for Joomla 1.5.x: http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?bridges

NONE.  The official smf bridge has been removed from the mod site due to Joomla licencing issues and their interpretation of it.

Dixus

Okay a last try.

Maybe some php freaks can give me some hint. Where the problem could be caused...

There is a function saveEntities(). It causes a js error because the html output of

document.forms.postmodify.elements[textFields[i]]

is

document.forms.postmodify.elements[textFields<em>]

That means something replaces the output?  So it makes sense that some bbc doesnt work with that bridge. It gets overwritten as well.

But i have no clue where the i should have a closer look...

If this is because of the Joomla bridge you are using, you will need to seek support from them. SMF is not causing this.
