I have a standard B4 installation with only one patched Theme.
installed in /forum and the standard MySQL DB with smf_* tables.

Would it be possible to FTP the RC1 full install to /forumrc1
but use the same database as the B4 installation?

If my test group then succesfully try the RC1 version
all I have to do is rename /forum to /forumB4
and /forumrc1 to /forum

and I'm done?

TIA

Yes you can do that, but it will alter the db in a way that the original /forum BETA 4 will probably no longer work anyways.

You'll need to reset paths and such after each move, via repair_settings.php tool.

If you do this use the Large Upgrade package and copy over the settings.php file from the BETA 4 install.  Be sure to copy over any attachment/avatar files as well.
