add banned member to membergroup

is it possible so when i ban a member he automatically gets put into a member group??

or is i was going to ban a member. could add jjust add them to a member group called banned and set the permissions to guests? whould that have the same effect as banning them?

Not without more work.

As they would inherit other permissions from the 'regular-user' group.

The only way it would work is to use DENY permissions for everything for them.
To prevent them gaining permissions from any other groups which they are in.
Admin > Permissions > Settings
enable deny permission

Although I would recommend banning instead. Thats why its there.
