I have made a support site that gives both free and paid support.

I was wondering if you guys can give me some tips on how to improve it.

Ashley S

Wrong section post in the Showcase board and ask for tips here.

Do you have any experience on running a support sites? No point making one if you haven't really experienced it.

What are your marketing strategies? .Info domains are lame, they just are used to spam now a days. Why don't you get a real domain extention?

I'm asking for advertising tips, showcase is to show off and to give information.

Please don't hate me because I'm a noob. I only have 4 good reviews about my skills with SMF ;)

Ashley S

.info is cheap. So why not take it while you can?.

If you look at the icon then you'll see I'm on my iPhone. You try typing inside the small keyboard.

We didn't get the .com because it's already taken by vbgamer (I think).

Please check our paid service post, we have given good support and got a few reviews to prove it.

So why don't you be creative and look for a better name?

I wasn't asking you for reviews, you are ignoring my question. My question is do you have any experience of running a website which was support related previously?

Should you be asking that to forum-support?

He's the one giving wrong information in the SMF support section and just started a site.

And yes I have. Also, if I can give paid support, why can't I help some people wanting free support?

PS: I don't want to look for a better name ;) all the good ones are taken. I have the others backordered.

Ashley S

Royal, Getting donations off people for helping them is not going to get you anywhere. Since i have a free support forum, I can possibly get loads of members to sign up for free and get help for free.

I don't need experience with any of the boards i have some members that have registered on my forum with a lot of experience with all forum softwares, I am still learning.

You happy now?.

Again, I am asking you. "Yes I have" does not give me any information. Some links to your experiences would help us understand the purpose of making a website specifically for support and would you be fit to run a website like this or not.

Ashley S

Royal, Trying to pick on me in every topic / post i make isn't good. It's giving you a bad name and also a bad name for your website.

If you don't like people picking on you then why pick on other people?.

rd

Are you deaf?

It's called paid support. You do the work for them, and it's the kind of work a person like you won't know how to do. also, you don't donate, you purchase.

Also, please stop giving wrong support information in the support boards.

Ashley S

Royal, Purchase is still donating. Good luck on your forum i guess.

Please go to dictionary.com

And look up the two words.

Proving wrong support isn't helpful.

Ashley S

The stuff your offering is basic stuff about SMF. I learn't that when i started here. 4 members ain't going to get you anywhere. Have they quitted maybe they don't like you for being big headed.

Arantor

It's such a shame I don't have moderation powers any more.

KINDLY KNOCK IT OFF, BOTH OF YOU.

Providing free support to folks to get reputation is a great way to edge towards paid support. It also gives those of us that have provided support a base to judge whether you are good at supporting the platform you've chosen to support.

Seriously though, if you really want rep for being able to provide support for SMF, stick around here providing quality support for a while and earn an SMF Support Specialist badge. (I'm not getting into the 'earning a badge for show' discussion. Simply put, if you have earned said badge you know your stuff.)

If you're capable of earning that badge and providing support here, you're capable of doing paid support.

Additionally if you're capable of earning the responsibility of a Customizer badge, you're capable of doing paid mods too.

Setting up a forum and hoping people are going to come and fill it, particularly in a support environment is practically destined to fail because if the management don't have even the basic skills themselves and don't want to prime the pump, so to speak, it isn't going anywhere.

Ashley S

Alright Arantor.

But he started it spamming my threads and being big headed. I only registered yesterday.
