This may be a little offtopic, but how can i apply this mod in child boards (at message index) ?

You want the replies and separate views mod also.

The childboards will then show with the same layout as your message index and main board.

Is there a way the two mods can be harmonised so they work together?

I am also posting this on that mods topic.
I'll try to see what I can do ;).

Hi Joker,
Thanks for all the great mods and work you do. i have a slight problem with this one though; it installs fine and does what it is supposed to but it seems to alter the behaviour of the Board Index when you reduce the browser width, so that it squeezes the Last post, Posts, Topics and Icon columns but the Board Name column remains the same width. This is a problem as people viewing on small screens/browsers get a very thin very high column for Last Post that becomes unreadable and they have complained. I have hunted high and low to find where the width of the Board Name column is defined but i haven't been able to find it in either the index.css nor the Board Index Template. Your other mod (Separate Replies and Views) I also have installed but it does not exhibit the same behaviour on the Message Index as the Subject/Started By column reduces proportionally with that one.

I just uninstalled your VB Style mod and the Board Name column behaves as it should, then reinstalled (with no problems) and that column is once again fixed and doesn't reduce proportionally. Can you suggest a fix? (Pretty please)

I'll try to look into this soon.

Just to track the issue more rapidly can you tell me the resolution at which this issue is occurring?

Thanks for the swift response. As I use a Mac and Safari as my standard browser, I'm not sure how to answer your question about resolution as the problem happens when I resize my browser window using the bottom right window drag to resize facility and Safari doesn't show any numbers for the resolution. Firefox the same. There is also no options to set the browser window to a specified size as far as I can tell. My screen resolution on my iMac is 1920 x 1080 but I don't think that is relevant?

One thing I should add is that I have played around with the index.css file since this problem appeared and tried to fix the width in pixels rather than percentage of the Last Post column but that hasn't worked either. As soon as the browser window is dragged down in width all the Board Index columns except Board Name start reducing in width and only stop when the minimum forum width size is reached (this is different for the four themes I use, default, Blackhead, Clear Sky and Flagrant_alt); without your mod they all reduce proportionally to that point and at whatever value that is set at. Clear Sky I have other problems with (the separate Posts and Topics columns are huge) but I want to sort this issue out first. You are welcome to have a look at my site (www.awolonline.net/forum) to see the problem (opens on a portal page where you can change the themes).

Wow I thought I made a response, amnesia :P.

So, I took my  monitor to 800x600 and made full zoom on the browser, but still the columns were steady for me. I just got a scroll bar in the bottom due to so much of zoom. Browsers tried
- Firefox
- Opera
- Safari
- Chrome

P.S. I went to your site(very nicely build) and I think only members can change the themes. Is it the case?

Hi Joker,
Thanks again for the response. The theme can be changed on the portal page by anyone (I have just tried it by logging out). It appears as though you are using a Windows machine, so does that mean you are not able to resize the browser window without having to change the screen resolution? As far as I know the members who have mentioned the problem of the Last Post column getting too narrow are also using Windows - I haven't questioned them extensively on this but as I was able to reproduce the column problem by resizing my browser window I figured it was a cross platform problem.

Would it be possible for you to try it again without changing your monitor resolution? That is if you are able to reduce the size of your browser window as I can - I don't know much about Windows capabilities but I assumed you could do that? I have tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox and it happens on all of them, whether as a guest or logged in. I am also guessing that the users who have complained are probably using IE but I don't have that installed to test (and don't want to!).

Resolution - 1366x768
Screen Size - 15"

I can see a lot of unrest in the layout (attached a screen shot). On my fresh install of SMF 2.0 the mod works absolutely fine on every dimension of browser.

It can be happing dues to portal or the social icons on the left or the banner on the top, hehehe gave a lot of things to debug. Try to trim the issue by disabling these things one by one(if you can :P).

Hi Joker,
Thanks again. I am sure it is not the social icons as I was getting this problem before I installed that. I have just tried disabling Simple Portal but the problem still exists when it is off. As I was writing this I spotted your reference to the ad banners (which are a mod called Ad management) so turned that off and Voila! That is what has been causing the problem. However I now need to work out whether it was my banners themselves or the mod...I do really need the ads in place so now more digging - ho hum. Thanks for helping me pinpoint the problem.

Nice to see that you have caught the exact issue.

There are too many images in banner try to reduce them and see if it works.

Try the attached file

P.S there were some invalid XHTML associated with the mod, I've made corrections in your file. For rest of the users around here, there will be a new release in a few minutes.
