Recovering a website after a hack job wiped most of it out, I was attempting to throw one of my forums back up. I was trying to upload packages when I ran into this message:

QuoteAn Error Has Occurred!
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

I set the Packages folder and every file and directory in it to permission 777. That didn't seem to help. What might I be overlooking here???

did you try to create a folder called temp (inside the package folder) and make that writable also?
