Is there any way i can do away with this option (Forgot your password?) on the login page  and place a email address there  in its place

if so how ?

Can you explain a bit more? Like you want a email box where it says "Forgot your password?", so that people can write the email directly without going to other page.

well that's 1 idea

i host my own site  from home with great success

i have not set up any form of mail system and wont be  doing it either  so if any member hits the FORGOT PASSWORD  they wont be getting a email  to reset it

so i was planing on putting a clickable email address there  but now a email box sounds better

i have an email account set up just for the site
yes i know there may be a security risk of some one  asking for  another members password if they can see a victims email but i have a security plan in place

Well now you have confused me somewhat.
Your site can't send emails? So what that email box will do? The purpose of email box is

People fill there email id they used to get registered =>> site will send them a new mail containing there pass (Correct me if I'm wrong).

So as you said your site don't have email function, well in that case email box is pretty much useless.

cut it short they click my email address and there default email provider  will send the email  so they send me the email  and not the site

this way the emails are being sent from them and not the site

hope this sounds  better

try it out for your self below  all i want to do is place the below where the password  reset is

click to test

It will take me only 2min to give you the code. But think yourself what you are asking for.

If a member has forgot his password =>> he/she will email you first and then you will take the regarding action.
That doesn't sound good to me at all, if i were your forum member.

Whereas by default, if a member place his email id in that Username/Email box, site will automatically send him/her a mail.

So my suggestion is start automatic mail sending for your site somehow. (If you still need the code i don't have a problem, but i just suggested you what seems to be a proper solution to me).

The code would be nice as i would not just send  out a password  to any one who claims to be any one

all of my members have to add 2 forms of contact  when they join up they also have to send me a code   and i store that code on my machine  so all forms of contact cant take place until the code  has been verified  from both sides

if a member requests some thing and the code does not match the members details  then  the member or guest gets ip banned from my site

hope that helps you swing towards my way of thinking ?

Problem solved  i looked at mercury but went with hmail in the end.
