I was using SMF for my forum...but I converted to PHPBB....for some reasons I'm not comfortable with PHPbb...now I want to convert back to SMF....I started doing step by step and got struck at the error :

Converting ranks... Unsuccessful!
This query:

    DELETE FROM `andhrxsa_phpbb`.smf_membergroups
    WHERE groupName LIKE 'phpBB %';

Caused the error:

Unknown column 'groupName' in 'where clause'

hello....hello.....anybody there....

Sorry for the delay. Please note that the converter for SMF 1.1.x must be used with a SMF 1.1.x (1.1.11 at this time) installation. While the converter to SMF 2.0 should be used with a SMF 2.0 (currently RC3) installation.

Are you sure you picked the right converter?
Please see on this site's Downloads > Converters > phpBB (2 or 3, as appropriate), for the right version of SMF.
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.

About login: can you please tell which version of SMF you have installed? For SMF 1.1.x, you should find in the sticky of this board referring to your phpbb version a "login fix" package, to install from package manager (Package Manager), if you login as admin, or, alternatively, you can find in that topic the instructions for editing a SMF file yourself, to have your phpbb password (and all your members) accepted by SMF.

About changing URL of the SMF forum: if you're sure you want to move now SMF to the address xxxxx.com, then please make sure you do solve your login first, then:
- make a backup copy of your phpBB and SMF folders to be sure.
- remove phpBB files and folders. Please take care to not remove more than that.
- copy all the contents of the /smf folder to its parent folder.
- upload and run also the tool attached here: What is repair_settings.php?, and verify the paths it displays, modifying them according to your own installation. Then, save.

Alternatively, you could also, in your host's control panel, point your xxxxx.com domain to the /smf folder instead of the folder it points to currently. Then run repair_settings.php mentioned at the last step previously - making sure again that the URL and anything else are appropriate for your installation.
(in order to change the forum URL, please follow only one of these two alternatives).
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.
