I actually use a fussilet theme (snake) for my soccer site but have changed a few of the icons and stuff to fit better with the soccer theme. His themes to me are some of the best on SMF. I changed the forum icons to soccer balls, this is my third change to the soccer balls and my favorite so far. I also changed the top logo to a soccer ball and site name (shortened name) WPS-Soccer or most people know it as Whoops soccer  ;)  The collapse and expands were changed as well to the bright orange from a smaller orange that the snake theme used.

General comments on the forum look would be great  O:)

Anyways, here is a link to my forum. It's slowly approaching 275,000 posts
http://www.washingtonpremiersoccer.com/forum/

I have a longer description below of the site.
I also actually target 3 urls at it, all basically to make it easier for members to find. wpssoccer.com, wps-soccer.com, washingtonpremiersoccer.com

Looks around?¿?¿?

Basically the site is all about youth soccer in the state of washington, from recreational to premier soccer. It's a place for parents to talk about tournaments, games, and other events their kids are involved in. A place to talk about the good and bad of their kids experiences in a certain club, league, or tryout.

This is a paid sport and getting bigger on the youth level. I actually started the site after one particular association banned a boy from playing soccer over a dad vs board dispute. All five of the board members were fired or lost their jobs because of this issue and the boy after almost 8 months was back on the field.

I'm not exactly sure what mods I have added besides a few spam mods and a video one so people can post youtube videos of their kids (just added it though)

My user group is parents.....I/we call them Crazy Parents because when it comes to their kids in a premier/selected sport they definitely are crazy beyond belief.

My best month for forum page views was about a year and a half ago with over 1 million and close to that for a couple months solid. That was when state cups were all during the same months. Since then the state has changed state cup times depending on age, so they are spread out which means months of those numbers are not common now, but it hovers around 500,000 page views for the forum each month now. It says I sell advertising but in all honesty I do not, I donate ad space to local clubs, soccer shops, and related things to soccer. I have been threatened by local soccer clubs at least 6 times over the last 4 years over content, but have never backed down or deleted a post by a member or given a members identity away. I always tell them to have their lawyer send me a document or pack sand on the removal.....i have yet to receive a letter.  :)  I definitely have made some enemies with the site.....mostly clubs, but I have thousands of parents who praise the ability to learn, ask others, and have a leg up on the whole experience vs going through it blind.

Hope that helps with details.... a bit long winded...sorry.  Oh and I used to use phpbb but SMF is way better in my mind.

Thanks for the compliment on the theme, but that goes to the fussilet and giving me the base theme to start with. Over time i have changed a few things to fit better with the whole soccer concept.

Thanks for looking and thanks for the compliments. :D

Maybe a month ago or so I updated to 2.0.2, which meant a new theme and some slight changes. I slowly am approaching 300,000 posts and love SMF as much today as I did when I first started using it.

Love the mods, the themes, and the overall stability and usability it provides to my users...many who are in their 30's-40's and 50's but find using the forum easy and stress free....... thank you SMF!!!

I actually use the news feeder to put up links to other local sites....... I don't charge to advertise, it's all about spreading the word of soccer.

Nice job on tweaking the default theme :)

I have been tweaking  my SMF forum a bit lately. With the help of some others on here, I have started using the news feed for advertisement for local soccer clubs (free of charge) and other local pro teams (also free of charge)

I have tried to condense the spaces between the sections as much as possible and unify the coloring for links and so forth to be more appealing.

I realize this is an old post but wanted to share my updates without starting a new thread/post.

SMF has been a workhorse for me and I have been able to do all of the things I have wanted and still keep the forum user friendly. Most of my audience is parents of players/not techies

Updated my forum again tweaking the theme Green which is a variate of Core I believe. I have used gradient on the background and board labels. Overall I think I'm done tweaking this particular theme, the next changes will mean embracing a totally new theme and colors down the road.

Thanks to the SMF community for a great forum system.
