i was wondering how to go about reseting all the counters in smf?

example: number post counters etc

reason is that once my site gose live, me posting 50+ times for testing purposes on topics that dont exist anymore wouldnt make any sense. lol

there is no way to reset the starting number of the posts.

Yes, there is, assuming you have removed everything!

In MySQL, TRUNCATE each of the tables you need to restart, that should reset the counters for you. (There are other ways, but that's the quickest)

As a minimum, smf_topics, smf_messages and smf_attachments should be reset (which will nuke any attachments/uploaded avatars, btw)

You should also reset log_activity to clear the activity log, and smf_settings where variable = 'maxMessageID' (I think it's called that, anyway)

thx a bunch, im sure this will help me as well as others.

was wanting to basically copy paste all my files, and reset the db, while ofc keeping the changes i have made, with fresh counters. be the easiest way to port it i think.
