Try what jeffharding did, and optomize your db in Admin -> Forum Maintenance.  Back it up first.  You'll have to undo the email address edit in /Sources/Subs-Post.php to see if it works.

By the way... heard back from my host (Bluehost) and the standard subject/body on the new member notification messages are flagged as spam at the host level so they never showed up anywhere.

So, I changed the message to:
'subject' => 'PSTEC Forum',
'body' => '{USERNAME} joined the PSTEC forum. Click the link below to view their profile.
{PROFILELINK}

I experimented and added this to the subject:
'subject' => 'PSTEC Forum Administration',

... and it was flagged as spam again!

So, you will have to experiment with your subject/body wording.

Note:  I special thank you to all the spammers out there for making it possible for me to spend a few hours investigating, testing, changing, testing, changing, testing... it was a special time for me... NOT!
