Compressing photos automatically or by administrator

I doubt there is a way to have photos automatically compressed as they are uploaded to my forum but i have to ask. My next question is can i, as administrator, compress member pics myself after they are downloaded and reload them? It seems that i can but i don't want to try it without asking in fear that it could corrupt something in the system.

There may well be a modification that will enable image compression, I assume you want to do this to restrict the bandwidth used? If so there is an easier way, limit the size of pictures your members can upload.

Admin > Forum > Attachments and Avatars > Attachment Settings.

Here you can limit the size of attachments and also the size of the thumbnail displayed when a picture is uploaded.

Images posted using the [ IMG ]http://BBCode insert, can be restricted if you edit the post's Width and Height for the link. for example:
