Any errors from your error log: Unable to load the 'main' template
Detailed description of the problem:  Nothing on the forum has changed in a few months.  Started getting this error this evening and does not show the forum index.  I have tons of mods installed but again nothing has been installed or removed in a few months.

Where do I start?
Thanks in advance.

Illori

your forum loads just fine here, did you recently select a new theme for your user?

try http://stagger4x4.com/forum/index.php?theme=1 to reset yourself to the default theme.

Strange.  I have confirmed the error with the error log as well as another admin on the forum.
I have not changed themes for myself or the other admin.
I tried using the default theme prior to posting, resulted in the same error.

Illori

do you have any themes installed that are for 1.1.*? if so delete them it might help with the problem and reset your users to the forums default theme.

I do not have any themes installed for 1.1.*
I reset the theme to default for all users and reset back to the normal one we use as well.
No change in results.

Thank you for your time.

Scratch that.  I do have one installed.  I forgot about it since it is not selectable.  Deleting now.  Will report back shortly.
Im not sure how that would cause the error since it has been there the whole time though.

Deleted Black Rain V3
Reset all users again.
No change in error.

Illori

you mean there are new error messages since you did the change? try clearing out your error log and waiting a bit to see if it returns.

3fifty

I mean that when I visit the forum index I still physically see the error displayed.

I cleared the error log.
Went to forum index
Another error shows up in the error log as well.

sounds like one or more of your templates from the default theme have been deleted, make sure they are all in place.

3fifty

Will do right now.  Any idea how that would happen?  I am the only one with access and I didnt delete anything.
Ill report back when done.

I copied /local/forum/themes/default from my last known good backup to /server/forum/themes/default
No change
Error is still physically showing on the forum index and the error log as well.

Firstly, it might pay you to do this:

http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=663

If that doesn't help, check the theme paths.

Or, maybe, replace index.template.php with a virgin copy of the file.

I tried the repair file.  No change in error status.
I tried replacing the /Themes/Defaults and /Sources with virgin copies as well.  No change in error status.

Illori

can you attach your boardindex.template.php file to your next post?

Illori

your file seems to have something odd with the opening <?php tag, i suggest you uninstall your users online today mod, upload a fresh copy of this file and reinstall the mod if everything is working fine.

3fifty

Ill try it.  Will report back later today.

I believe the website is infected with malware.  I found code in other files as well that start with
Quote
<?php @error_reporting(0); if (!isset($eva1fYlbakBcVSir)

So I googled it and its looking like its infected.

Thanks for the help.  Ill start trying to clear it out.

Illori

sounds like a good idea and that should fix your problem as well. dont forget to contact your host to let them know and to change your passwords to access your server
