My feed does not validate

I was hoping to get RSS feed from my forum.
I gather the adress to be used is something like:
http://www.inventorforum.net/components/smf_forum/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss1

But it doesnt seem to work properly.
Feedvalidator.org gives this:
http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.inventorforum.net%2Fcomponents%2Fsmf_forum%2Findex.php%3Faction%3D.xml%3Btype%3Drss1

Any idea what I can do to fix it?

[Unknown]

It's rss, not rss1.  SMF 1.0 does not support RSS 1.0, but rather RSS 0.93 and 2.0.

Validate http://www.inventorforum.net/components/smf_forum/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss1

Ahh. Thanks.

But it still do not work when I add this content (http://www.inventorforum.net/components/smf_forum/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss) into http://www.google.com/ig.

I get this error:
Your search http://www.inventorforum.net/components/smf_forum/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss
did not match any feeds.

Suggestions:
- Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
- Try different keywords.
- Try more general keywords.

Is this a google-problem or is it the feed that somehow isnt right?

jorgen

Nope. Google still refuses to accept the feed:
QuoteYour search http://www.inventorforum.net/components/smf_forum/index.php/type,rss/action,.xml
did not match any feeds.
But readers like RSSreader seem to have no problem with it.

Google accepts the feed from http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php/type,rss/action,.xml however.
Maybe because I'm still on 1.0.5, and simplemachines.org is on 1.1?

Oh well. I'll try again after I've managed to take the time to upgrade to 1.1.
Thanks for your good support,  [Unknown] !

I have this problem too!

This Feed URL doesnt have a problem.
http://www.tekdi.com/mamb/smf/index.php/type,rss/action,.xml

But the normal URL suggested on the forums has a problem.

http://tekdi.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,58/expv,0/action,.xml/
OR

http://www.tekdi.com/mamb/smf/index.php?action=.xml
This is the error given by the feedvalifator at:
http://feedvalidator.org

Sorry
This feed does not validate.

They appear fine to me. Are you experiencing a problem viewing?

This Feed URL doesnt have a problem.
http://www.tekdi.com/mamb/smf/index.php/type,rss/action,.xml

SO how do i modify the above URL to show a specific board & say 20 latest messages.

BUT
These URL's for the feeds do not show up on any of the available feed readers (eg feedreader.com) You can try it out .

http://tekdi.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,58/expv,0/action,.xml/
OR
http://www.tekdi.com/mamb/smf/index.php?action=.xml

One more thing,
In the above 2 URLS how do i remove or change this line??

- <smf:xml-feed xmlns:smf="http://www.simplemachines.org/" xmlns="http://www.simplemachines.org/xml/recent" xml:lang="en-US">

I have to change it to tekdi.com not simplemachines.org. It seems the feed validator has problems with this line

This displays the last 20 topics:

http://www.tekdi.com/mamb/smf/index.php?action=.xml;limit=20;type=rss2

As editing the URL's you mentioned you should be able to edit Sources/News.php to fix that one.

coolparth

As i said this url feed does not validate. Check the URL to validate above.
Nor does the feed reader accept it. You can try any of the feed readers available.

Where is the sources dir?

I agree there appears to be an issue with validation. The feeds to appear to parse in RSS readers I have used though.

I will continue to review your issues.

Please do find the problem with this.  For this is also  the problem im having.

hxxp:feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.northernneons.com%2Fvirginia%2Fsmf%2Findex.php%3Faction%3D.xml%3Bsa%3Dnews [nonactive]

Try this:

http://tekdi.com/mamb/smf/index.php?type=rss&limit=10&action=.xml

Now this is 10 posts not 20 but the feed does validate clearly, infact try it:

http://feedvalidator.org/ or here http://rss.scripting.com/

I am no RSS expert but seems to be clear here is that some characters within the feed itself cause the feed to not validate. Hence by removing the problem articles the feeds now validate just fine.

coolparth

How do i add something for a specific board?
