Hi all,  just trying to figure out a way to let guests see topic headings but not
content ?

However, in general it is a bad idea, in my opinion and experience.
Any forum which forces me to register in order to view a thread is a forum that I leave and never return to...

thanks for the reply kindred, I'm just looking for a way to keep my forum as open as possible
while preventing people from compromising their privacy. Sometimes the older generation
can be naive about publishing personal info  eg home phone nos etc.
I'll away and search the mods.

There's this one but it comes with a few caveats:

You will need to use "emulation"  to install for 2.0.4.

Also I believe it will only install on the default theme and other themes will require manual edits for it to work. Sounds like one to play about with really.

Hi Storman, I've went with ADK Topic Private http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3094 It's the closest i could find to my requirements.
I'll see how people get on with it in the coming weeks
