Slight Layout change help needed

I am new to all of this so forgive me if I am asking bad questions.

My forum is getting real close to being released but I would like to change a few minor visual things.

The first thing I would like to do is add the search tool bar at the top of all pages so people automatically search for what they are looking for.

The second thing is make the category headers stand out more.  I would like to move these to the left and maybe change to a different font, color or size.

Can you point me in the right direction for this?  I looked at the code but the problem is I know nothing about writing code.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
